Te whiwhinga mahi – The opportunity
The Sport Integrity Commission is Aotearoa New Zealand’s new independent Crown entity leading the protection and promotion of integrity across the sport and recreation system. The Commission commenced operations on 1 July 2024, bringing together anti-doping, dispute resolution, safeguarding, investigations, learning and capability building into a unified national organisation.
This new Governance and Policy Advisor is a dynamic role that will support both the smooth running of governance and leadership functions and managing internal operational policy frameworks, ensuring clear, compliant, and high-quality systems and documentation that uphold the commission’s integrity and performance.
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi – About this role
Reporting to the Chief Advisor, the Governance and Policy Advisor plays a key role in ensuring the Commission’s Board, leadership, and internal functions operate with clarity, integrity, and strong procedural discipline. You will provide day-to-day support for:
- Governance and board meeting processes
- A new independent disciplinary panel for the sport and recreation sector
- Crown entity servicing and reporting processes
- Cross-Commission projects and continuous improvement initiatives
You will support and uphold fit-for-purpose and compliant systems and processes.
Ko wai koe – About you
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A tertiary qualification in public policy, law or related field preferred
- Previous governance exposure, policy experience, and an interest in supporting system-level integrity and performance
- Excellent organisational, writing and editing skills
- Sound understanding of governance, board servicing and public sector compliance
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities, and a pragmatic approach to continuous improvement
- Able to interpret policy and process requirements and translate into clear documentation and action
- Trusted, discreet and professional in dealings with sensitive material
- Strong cultural competence and a deep commitment to te Tiriti o Waitangi
Other Requirements
- Some out-of-hours work or national travel may be required
